PNIPH supported the Ministry of Health to establish an electronic platform for primary health care (PHC) statistical reports generating indicators at the directorate level using the globally recognized health information system, DHIS2.
This initiative allows for quicker and efficient reporting on annual statistics produced by the Ministry of Health (MoH)
PNIPH started this initiative by conducting a comprehensive situation analysis assessment for PHC statistical reports between June and December 2016. The assessment included several field visits and meetings with PHC directorates and central technical units, as well as the production of a technical report with solid recommendations for the MoH.
After the MoH approved the assessment, PNIPH and the MoH agreed to establish the DHIS2 Country Team, which was trained by the University of Oslo to use, configure, upgrade, and customize the DHIS2 software based on the needs of the Palestinian health care system. Users including supervisors and statisticians were trained on the platform.
By 2020, over 80 statistical reports were created using DHIS2, including Mother and Child Health, case-based surveillance (CBS) for communicable diseases, ICD-10 morbidity reports for general practitioner (GP) clinics, and health education and promotion forms were all finalized as well as other PHC services.
